Darwin Convention Centre Hotel EOI opens

The expression of interest (EOI) for the Darwin Convention Centre Hotel is now open with 6 international hotel operators already interested in the project.

The Northern Territory Government’s commercial advisor, CBRE Hotels, commenced market sounding for the investment opportunity last month and so far have received strong interest from both investors and hotel operators, including Accor, EVT, Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG), Marriott, Radisson Hotel Group and Toga Far East Hotels.

The EOI is the first step in the competitive market process to secure a private sector proponent to build, own and operate a new hotel which will be integrated with the Darwin Convention Centre. This development will greatly add to the thriving tourism, residential and hospitality offerings at the Darwin Waterfront.

The Darwin Convention Centre Hotel is expected to offer between 200 and 250 rooms, and provide new, upscale accommodation options for corporate and leisure visitors.

The Darwin Convention Centre Hotel development site is on Stokes Hill Road directly adjacent to the Convention Centre and offers spectacular views across Darwin Harbour and the Waterfront.

Experienced proponents interested in the opportunity can visit the CBRE website with the EOI closing on 31 January 2023.
