Farming investor set to develop major agribusiness precinct

National farming investor Duxton Farms Ltd has been announced as the preferred proponent to develop a major agribusiness project in a major boost for the Territory’s agribusiness sector.

Duxton Farms purchased 2,386 hectares of the 28,000 hectare Wildman Agribusiness Precinct, which will be the first stage of its plan to develop a range of farming operations including livestock, broad acre and horticultural crops.

Agriculture crop such as mangoes, melons and sorghum have the potential to be harvested and grown at this precinct, along with housing cattle.

The Wildman Agricultural Precinct, located 130km south east of Darwin, will be key in employing a regional workforce and attracting agricultural investment.

The sale is expected to generate great economic stimulus into the region through further investment into farming infrastructure and working opportunities for Territorians.

Along with the Agribusiness Precinct at Lambells Lagoon, these projects are part of the drive to grow the Territory’s Agribusiness sector to $2 billion by 2030.

They are an important step to ensure the Territory develops sustainable solutions for its agricultural and horticultural industries.
